Welcome to the BHS forum.
We welcome any memories of Byfleet life, or snippets of history related to Byfleet (by which we mean the ancient Parish covering Byfleet, West Byfleet and the nearby boundaries)
I am Andrew Foster. I grew up in Byfleet during 1950-70. My father and mother were caretaker at St. Marys School. I have found a photo of a tre war(2)Mercedes Benz racing car parked outside Rowlands Garage in 1947. Does anyone know where this garage was situated? Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks
Hi all, veiwing your site from Ireland hoping someone might be able to help me with information on A Thomas Dwyer from Byfleet who married my grans sister Mary Flynn in Dublin in 1931. The marriage record gives his occupation as aircraft technician. I believe they moved back to Byfleet so maybe someone on here will remember them. Any info would be appreciated. Regards Robbie.
I don't know if anyone remembers me but I am in Mr Ely's 1951 class photograph back row 4th from the right. Oh happy days. I recognise some of the others in the photo, Derek Monk and Peter Robinson being a couple of them them. I now live in Wokingham after a pretty varied life. All the best to anyone who remembers me.
It was great to see this photo. My sister is in the 2nd.row from the front and 4th from the right (Margaret Walker). My parents owned the bakery(J.R.H Walker)situated next to Lloyds Bank.In1956 when St Mary's was100 years old some of the children from my class, including myself(then Janet Walker) had a group photo taken which was in the local paper alongside another photo of a gardening group of children from St.Marys taken50years previously!!I I now need to find these items to forward them. In 1981 I managed to contact most of the children in my class photo for a reunion at St Mary's. I have many fond memories of Byfleet,as this was where I spent my childhood.
